My wife and I are headed West on a rather ambitious trek. Our main focus is on some of the western U.S. national parks and coastline. Our interest was piqued, in part, by Ken Burns' The National Parks: America's Best Idea, the 2009 documentary.Of course, the excitement of the budding frontier lured many colonists to the western reaches of North America. Today that same magnetism exists for travelers to appreciate some amazing vistas and experiences.
