They paved paradise and put up a parking lot...
They took all the trees and put them in a tree museum
And they charged all the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em. ~Joni Mitchell, Big Yellow Taxi
A woman in a nearby city is facing a battle with the town over the expropriation of some land and a rare Kentucky coffee tree. The town wants to widen the road and sidewalk and the tree has to come down. A neighbour of the lady said that about twenty years ago a town employee came with a chainsaw to cut down the tree until he was sent away. Now the tree is under assault again.
This scenario has been played out in urban centres over the years and often mature, beautiful trees get cut down. Think about your area and what leafy sanctuaries have been eliminated.
