Global Faith Infographics

Information graphics are visual representations of information, data, or knowledge with the prime intent to instruct. Just having come back from a trip to Italy, I was intrigued by a series of infographics profiling the different sects of Christianity around the world. The map of North America invites some interesting observations as does the European map. The dominance of the Roman Catholic church in southern European countries is no surprise, or the Protestant component in Germany thanks to the Protestant Reformation. I am surprised to see the large Lutheran component in the U.S. midwest, and the interesting configuration of the Methodists north of the southern Baptists. As an Anabaptist/Mennonite I can detect the Amish element scattered through North America which makes up a small part of the denomination. Also I learned that there is a dominant Catholic component in Australia and New Zealand.

Of course, another interesting map would be to include other religions for a global faith map.
Can you detect any other interesting features?

Thanks to Richard Florida at Creative Class for an introduction of the work of the talented cartographers at Floating Sheep.
